The project takes its inspiration and offspring from the various functions that surround the site at the waterfront by Limfjorden in Aalborg. The impressions and research show a variety of fragments with individual histories and reasons that contribute to a whole. Between old and new, public and private, the site boasts of an impressive natural shoreline and views unprecedented at the waterfront.
The main task in the project is to design a wellness center at the site, understanding different aspects of wellness that lay down the basis for a design in a Nordic context with an emphasis on tectonics.
The solution is a centre made by series of individual functions and buildings that responds to the idea of fragments of a whole, while at the same time respecting the potentials for public access to the site. The design draws architecture from a human scale, responding to a need for individual focus and potentials for individual understanding and experience of wellness.
